At Foro Italico stadium in Rome, the Italian Open Tennis Championships went on stage with the men’s single victory of Rafael Nadal. The historic structure that for 76 years has been the house of this important ATP tournament, was added with a multi-purpose structure this year, having 7000 semi-temporary and transportable seat capacity. The Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) strongly recommended the project which construction was completed by a Rome based company called INTECH.
The structure given name of “Temporary Flexible Stadium X” clearly describes the project main objective: flexibility. This is why Potissimum grating for building has been used to floor underneath the stadium stands. Nuova Defim’s Orsogril technical department co-worked and designed together with the client the structure, to solve the project different construction challenges. The result was the make of 354 framed and galvanized grating panels with 15x76mm mesh spacing to pave 1000 square meters approximately in a very short lead time in order to respect the Internazionali d’ Italia Championship starting dates.
The new spectators’ versatile structure is ideal for tennis, basket, volley and beach volley games to start with, but also for special events, concerts and shows by sectioning its southern side and installing a multi-functional stage 1,200 square meters wide.
In reference to the new structure CONI President Giovanni Malagò stated, "This innovative project will write the future of sports facilities".
Thanks to the grating metamorphic characteristics, Nuova Defim Orsogril took once more the field with passion and technical expertise, in order to let people live sport and music emotions in a safe, stylish and comfortable structure.
